About this dataset
These tables provide detailed information on New Zealand's international trade in services by service type.
Trade in services includes transactions where no physical product changes hands. For example, a New Zealand lawyer providing advice to an overseas client, or an overseas head office charging a management fee to its New Zealand branch.
Method of collection/Data provider
The information is sourced from a variety of quarterly surveys, including the International Trade in Services and Royalties Survey for commercial services, and the International Visitor Survey for travel services.
The Quarterly International Trade in Services and Royalties Survey selects 1,000, of the approximate 4,000 total businesses engaged in international import-export of commercial services and receipts/payments for royalties.
The International Visitor Survey is run by a marketing company for the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.
